7903 E L J Townline Rd Milton, WI 53563 This Dutch gambrel-roofed barn was housing milk cows before 1895. The north portion was the first project of Robert Bauer, who built it as a free standing horse barn. Robert Wenham moved in and attached the horse barn to the original barn to house heifers. The barn recently received a new white steel roof, new boards and a new coat of paint. The farm has been in the Wenham family since 1939.
5041 E Wilcox Rd Janesville, WI 53546 The land along Wilcox Rd was first platted around 1839. Volney Atwood and Asa Farnsworth purchased, subdivided and sold the land. The property was originally owned by a Wilcox, but the road is named for the Wilcox's bachelor son, Billy. Descendents of the Wilcox family lived on the farm until the early 1970s.
10818 N Vickerman Rd Milton, WI 53563 Grandmother's Cross was given to Bonnie for her birthday. In turn, she gave her brother and husband Flaming Star because they like to sit on the patio and watch the sun go down. The house of cream brick was built in 1867 by Ira Webb, a gentleman farmer from New York.

The actual quilt was signed by those vowing not to drink spirits. This building was constructed by Fredrick Dunn in 1909 as a clothing store. It became a pharmacy in 1917, and was later a grocery store, gift shop and hair salon.
The Berry Basket 4026 N Henke Rd Milton, WI 53563
4835 E Bingham Rd Milton, WI 53563 This property has been in the Hanauska family since 1913. Harold's father and grandfather hauled rocks from the fields that were split by hand to build the foundation for the barn. The dairy barn was rebuilt in 1921 with split field stone, oak beams and wooden pegs from the farm's woods. The milkhouse was rebuilt in 1968 when the farm converted from cans to a bulk tank. The double corncrib was built in 1961 using farm oak trees.
Barn Rules

Rock County, Wisconsin!

While many of the barn quilts are located on back roads, they are still traveled by other drivers. Please be aware of vehicles behind you if you slow to look at a barn quilt. Exercise caution and follow the rules of the road if you decide to pull over for a photo. Please be safe!

Keep in mind that most of the barn quilts are on private property. Respect the homeowners' rights. Do not drive or walk on their property to get a closer look. In some cases the barn quilt is located at a business - if you have the time or inclination, they'd love for you to stop in and say hello.
